Let’s take a tour to “Daughter of the Sea.” Didn’t hear that name before? Oh, we all know about that place – it’s Kuakata. It is in southeastern Bangladesh and is the number sizeable tourist destination in the country. Kuakata Beach is 18 kilometers long and wide is 3 kilometers. Beach is something that never makes me lifeless.

I love traveling. I visited Kuakata two times. It is a place where I can visit again and again. Oh, are you feeling bored? I know from 2020, we all are bound in four walls. There is nothing to do with it. My experience with a pandemic is too dramatic. But I took a pause and went to so many places. I know it’s against social distancing; I tried my best to stay away from the crowded area. I visited Cox Bazar, Saint Martin, Chittagong patenga beach. So, all of you can understand the bonding with the beach is so deep like an ocean. It was just mesmerizing. Today I will share about Kuakata beach.

How can you go? What you can see? What you can eat? Oh wait, I forgot to tell you that I am a big food lover. Oh, my goodness, the food of Kuakata!! I can assure you that you will never forget if you tried their food once.

How to go:

Okay, Firstly in Kuakata we can go by bus or launch. There are so many buses on the route from Dhaka to Kuakata. There are also two options. One is AC/ NON- AC. If you want to experience the launch journey, it will be more exciting. The ticket of launch is straightforward to get. The view of the river is so soothing. The food at the launch is delicious. I will suggest if you never experienced a launch journey, you all should try that. It is a fascinating journey. The launch will go to the Barisal Sadar ghat, then you have to go to Kuakata by local bus. It is about a journey of 3 hours long.

After arriving at Kuakata, you can see that the people of Kuakata are very welcoming. They try to help their tourists with care. There are so many vans waiting for the tourist to take them to their destination. The resort and hotels are less expensive than Cox’s Bazar. But you have to bargain. Many alternatives and hotels were there for the tourist. After checking in at the hotel, then take a van and go to the beach. It’s so refreshing to see the sea. Always I just looked at the ocean and enjoyed the panoramic view. Now go to a restaurant and enjoy your meal. In the meantime, I am making a list for you. I can tell you the list is so long. It may take 2 to 3 days to see around. Here is the list for your convenience:

What to see:

1) Lebur chor – It’s a small fish market beside the beach. You can buy and enjoy your fish beside the ocean. Oh, you will never forget that experience.

2) Lal kakrar chor – Some little red crab will be roaming beside your feet. It is so entertaining to watch

3) Nodir teen mohona – Here you can see the fiction. It’s a scenario where the waves of the sea meet the wave of the river. It is truly an interesting view.

4) Rakhain polli – Oh, the rakhains are so beautiful. You can buy so many things for your friends and family. But again, I am warning that you have to bargain.

5) Buddha mandir – The Temple is very close to Rakhain polli which is three-storied building. You will find peace. The generosity of the people is so satisfying. The cleanliness of the Temple makes you calm.

6) Sunset and sunrise point – It is a place where you can sit from sunrise to sunset. It is incredible to watch the view. The sun rises with new happiness and set with all sorrows

7) 200 years old boat – The boat is 200 years old. It is just the structure of the ship. Some parts were missing, but that gigantic boat will blow your mind.

8) 200-year-old healthy – The Bengali word for “well” was dug on the seashore by the early Rakhine settlers to collect drinking water.

9) Shutki polli – If you are a fan of shutki (dried fish), the Shutki polli is the right place for you. You can buy shuts from that place. It’s significantly cheaper than the other place

10) Ilish restaurant – The place is like a giant hilsa fish, and you will eat a meal on the inside of his fish. The other attractive area is a photo exhibit where all the historical photos of Kuakata can be seen. Also, a small zoo is there. Some rare animals will be seen.

Oh, I revealed all the exotic places to see around. It’s time for food now! Again let’s make a list of food.

What to eat:

1) Crab fry (the best thing about Kuakata)

2) Fish fry (Batasha, tuna, salmon)

3) Coconut juice.

4) Shutki bhorta

5) Fresh fish bhorta

6) Fish BBQ

7) Local street food

8) Malai cha

9) Different local Pitta

10) Shrimp, lobster, octopus.

Food Taste is something that varies from person to person. I loved their local foods and fishes. But the crab fry is something which I will never forget. Finally, the journey is finished. Oh wait, I want to tell you the people of Kuakata are so hard working. The stealing tendency is 0%. You can give a tour at midnight. It’s the safest city. They admire the tourists. So why not take an excursion to Kuakata. Such a welcoming place it is.

Just make sure, the beauty does not get spoiled by any activity from your side. Let’s keep nature exquisite & beautiful for the next generation.
